Celebrate Tom Petty at Bellamy Harbor Park’s Boathouse on Oct. 9

Copper City Brewing Company and 315 Music have teamed up to provide a night of entertainment celebrating the career of Tom Petty at Rome’s Bellamy Harbor Park on Oct. 9.

Petty passed away on Oct. 2, 2017. On Oct. 21, 2017, the day after what would have been his 67th birthday, Copper City Brewing Company in Rome hosted a celebration of the life of the venerable singer-songwriter with an all-star cast of Central New York musicians, anchored by Rome’s own Work Related as the house band.

The brewery has decided on a redux of this still-talked-about celebration to take place on Oct. 9. But instead of being held at the brewery on Rome’s East Side, it will be held just a short trip down the road, in the boathouse along the Barge Canal at Rome’s Bellamy Harbor Park from 6-10 p.m. There is no admission fee, but organizers are asking for donations at the door that will be given to the performing musicians as they get back on their feet after a year of not working.

Work Related will again be the house band for the four-hour show, performing their own versions of Petty favorites and serving as back-up to several of the guest musicians slated to play.

In addition to Work Related, members of the Utica-based bands Crazy Fools, Uncle Charlie & the Meatballs, and Last Left will be appearing, along with Nash Robb and Seth Becker of CNY Amerianca favorites The Old Main, rootsy singer-songwriter Spencer Morgan, teen singer-songwriter phenom Sydney Irving, indie pop vocalist Isaac Fench, roots-rock musician Anthony Consiglio, and vocalist Kris Trinka.

Tom Petty’s music resonates across generations. You may be hard-pressed to find a die-hard Petty fan but you’d be equally as hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn’t know and/or like at least one song from Jacksonville’s favorite son. Copper City’s first Petty tribute proved this in 2017. The building was packed with music fans from all over, many of who still talk about that night to this day. That was the impetus for this second Petty tribute. Work Related will again be the house band for this event at a venue just a short drive from Copper City Brewing.

Food trucks will be on hand and just a short walk under the bridge is the Cayo Industrial Horror Realm, an adult-oriented haunted house attraction entering its 19th year and third along the canal in Rome.
