The Roots to Replace Third Eye Blind at New York State Fair
Third Eye Blind, who hit the charts with their hit “Semi-Charmed Life” in 1997, has had to cancel their Thursday performance at Chevy Park at the New York State Fair. They have been replaced by The Roots, who will be making a return appearance at the fair after an explosive set in 2019.
The hip-hop group from Philadelphia, led by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and Black Thought (née Tariq Trotter), is more widely known as the house band for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon but has a long and influential history in hip-hop. Questlove has also become an acclaimed producer with his release of the documentary Summer of Soul, released earlier this year, which chronicles the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival.
The show is free with fair admission and begins at 8:00 p.m. The NYS Fair runs through Monday, Sept. 6.
