LIVE: Nickelback & Brantley Gilbert At Darien Lake Amphitheater

On Wednesday night, Nickelback made their 30th stop on their Get Rollin tour at Darien Lake Amphitheater. The band was formed in the mid-1990s by Chad Kroeger, Ryan Peake, Mike Kroeger, and Brandon Kroeger under the name Village Idiots. The group would change the name to Nickelback after Mike Kroeger, a barista at Starbucks, would frequently tell customers, “Here’s your nickel back.” The Canadian rock group has sold over 50 million albums worldwide, ranking them as the 11th best-selling music act of the 2000s, and the 2nd best-selling foreign music act in the US of the 2000s – behind The Beatles.

Brantley Gilbert helped kick the night off. The country rock singer has released six studio albums: A Modern Day Prodigal Son, Halfway to Heaven, Just As I Am, The Devil Don’t Sleep, Fire & Brimstone, and So Help Me God. The Georgia native has also released 16 singles, five have peaked at number one on the US country airplay chart.
