Live: The Wailers Rock the Earlville Opera House with an Epic Dance Party & Message of One Love

The beautiful and historic Earlville Opera House is a hidden gem amongst the many wonderful venues across Upstate New York, but after The Wailers ripped through two incredible sets of Bob Marley & Peter Tosh hits, the aftershocks of a sold-out house getting up, standing up, and dancing the night away might change that.

Before the incredible reggae set, Mike Davis & The Laughing Buddha Episode entertained guests in the courtyard of the theater for a special pre-party with beer donated by Good Nature Brewing, ice cream donated by Gilligan’s, Jamaican food and an awesome range of music from Davis’ originals to Paul Simon covers and more. In true small-town fashion, the Earlville Opera House guests enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the worldwide touring roots, rock, and reggae music on this beautiful first day of September.

As soon as The Wailers hit the stage, the theater erupted with joy, and as the wonderfully mixed songs filled the historic walls and poured out onto the streets with the sundown shining through the stained glass windows along with the awesome light show, nearly every soul inside was dancing.

Both sets of music were inspiring and a perfect selection of hits from their vast repertoire. You could close your eyes and picture Bob Marley on stage with the awesome vocal performances from Mitchell Brunnings, Wendel Junior Jazz Ferraro, Sister Teena Barnes, and Sister Alecia Marie. The back line was as tight as could be and holding it down was Aston Barrett, Jr., son of the legendary “Familyman.”

This was a show not to be missed, not just for reggae lovers, but anyone who has been touched by the music and legendary message that The Wailers continue to provide night in and night out. You can read more about them HERE and find upcoming tour dates as they continue through the states before heading to South America.

The Earlville Opera House supports an incredible array of arts. From these incredible concerts to workshops for songwriting, engineering and mixing shows, quilting, an art museum and so much more. They give back locally and regionally. It wouldn’t be a gem of a theater without its beating heart, the incredible staff, loyal volunteers, and all those who come and support its vision.

It’s a remarkable feeling of nostalgia with fun programming focused on the most enjoyable experience for the artists they feature and promote to the smile every attendee will leave with.
