315 New Music Friday: Replacements Tribute Act Beer For Breakfast Releases Benefit for Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation
Upstate New York’s best (only?) Replacements tribute band Beer For Breakfast has released a Name Your Price tribute album to those lovable louts from the Twin Cities as a fundraiser for the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation.
The album, titled Please Don’t Sue Us, was recorded as low-fi and under rehearsed as any good ‘Mats tribute album should. It contains ten Replacements covers mainly from the band’s early years and contains such classics as “Alex Chilton,” “Bastards of Young” and “Here Comes a Regular.”
Released through the Rome-based Orange-SLS Records label, buyers can purchase the tribute on a Name Your Price basis through Bandcamp here.
Beer For Breakfast is a side project for the Madison County band Mobil-Mockingbird, a trio of musicians who go by the noms-de-plume Mobil Joe, David Mockingbird and Uncle Jesse. Their music is described as “satirical weird folk ‘n roll music.” Check out their discography through the Orange-SLS Bandcamp page here.
Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation helps to keep music alive in schools by donating instruments to underfunded programs and offers support services to school districts nationwide, giving economically-disadvantaged youth access to the benefits of music education.
