John Cragie & Humbird Stun Homer Center For The Arts With A Beautiful Evening of Music & Advocating For The Arts, Change & Peace

The magnificently lit Center For The Arts Homer played host to John Craigie & Humbird Sunday evening for a magical show as the storms outside cleared into a dark sundown. The sound of the once-church-turned-music hall is incredible, and the tunes, like the weather, carried light while dealing with the heavy clouds humanity faces.

Craigie opened his set with a haunting rendition of his 2022 song “Microdose” from Mermaid Salt, with a pedal steel swirling through the high ceilings. Craigie’s famous between-song banter is funny and charming. And while having the audience laughing, he can speak to the causes he truly believes in.

The set list moved on with old hits like “Don’t Ask” into a section from his incredible new album I Swam Here.

Opening act Humbird joined in for “I Am California,” a song Craigie released with harmonies from Gregory Alan Isakov. The duo closed the show with an awesome version of “Nomads” from 2020’s Asterik The Universe.

Humbird was magnificent as well, and closed her show with a new song and a beautiful tribute to her recently passed grandfather. His final words to her: “He asked if my voter registration was up to date.”
