LIVE: Michael Ray at del Lago Casino
Michael Ray took the stage at del Lago Casino on April 14, bringing an energy and enthusiasm that had the crowd on their feet from the very first song.
The setlist featured six new songs from Ray’s upcoming EP, “Dive Bars and Broken Hearts,” set to be released on June 23. Ray introduced each song with excitement, encouraging the crowd to sing and dance along with him.
In addition to his new material, Ray performed a mix of covers and fan favorites, including a rousing rendition of Tim McGraw’s “I Like It, I Love It.” He also surprised the audience with his brand new song, “Get Her Back,” which was released hours before the show. The audience was thrilled to hear the new track live, and it was clear that the song had already become a fan favorite.
Ray’s band was equally impressive, with each member given a chance to shine during a medley of covers that included Aerosmith’s “Sweet Emotion,” and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” The drummer even gave a solo performance, culminating in a mini rendition of the Foo Fighter’s classic hit, “There Goes My Hero.”
Throughout the concert, Ray engaged with the audience, by posing for dozens of selfies, making jokes, and sharing stories that made the experience feel personal and intimate. One of the most memorable selfies he took was during his performance of “Holy Water,” with a fan who held a sign up asking to trade his “holy water,” which was actually a jar of moonshine, for a selfie and autograph. His infectious energy was contagious, and by the end of the night, the crowd was left wanting more.
Ray concluded his set with “Higher Education,” and “Think a Little Less.” The audience was thrilled by the performance, and they cheered and clapped for an encore. Ray returned to the stage and performed 90s country-inspired #1 hit, “Whiskey and Rain.” which left the crowd on a high note.
Overall, Michael Ray’s performance at del Lago Casino was a thrilling and unforgettable experience. He proved that he is a talented performer with a unique style that blends traditional and modern country music. Fans of country music won’t want to miss his upcoming EP and tour, and those who had the pleasure of attending the show will no doubt be eager to see him again.
