After two years of cancellations due to the pandemic, the Central New York Irish Festival <\/a>has finally been able to announce it is moving forward with its inaugural festival this July. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The festival will be held July 22 and 23 at MKJ Farm<\/a>, in Deansboro and although similar to the one that used to be held in Frankfort, it is not run by the same people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organizers of the CNY Irish Festival came together after the decision was made to move the location of the Frankfort festival to Downtown Utica. The organizers felt that a family-friendly event in a country setting would still appeal to many festival-goers and so it was born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A full festival lineup is still being confirmed, but organizers have shared that Celtic music favorites, The Elders and Enter the Haggis will be the headlining acts for the two-day event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enter the Haggis<\/a>, a Toronto based Celtic band, is no newcomer to the area. Playing many Thursday nights in Utica and headlining at venues all over the Central NY area, this band is a local favorite. Their edgy style and interactive stage presence envelop their audiences, incorporating them into the show as they sing along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Elders<\/a>, a Kansas City-based band, is also no newcomer to the area. Central NY has been their home away from home for years. Playing their final show in 2019 before their retirement of touring, the band often told Central New Yorkers that they were “the best crowd they ever had.” They may have said that to all their crowds, but in no way could the others have been more welcoming and loving of this band. With the recent passing of original member Steve Phillips, the band has come out of retirement to share with fans the latest music they created together with Steve. As a tribute, they have chosen select sites around the country to visit, and it is with great pleasure that Central NY and the CNY Irish Festival is one of their stops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
