Everyone is invited to participate in the annual\u00a0SAMMYS People\u2019s Choice Awards.\u00a0Each year the Syracuse Area Music Awards hosts a web-based competition to see whose fans are the most psyched about their CNY favorites.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nominations began on New Year’s Day in four categories:\u00a0 Artist or Band; Livestream Event or Series; Academic or Musical Organization; Venue.\u00a0Since 2007, the SAMMYS has attracted millions of votes through its online voting system.\u00a0Nominations and voting are free and available to the public here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The SAMMYS Hall of Fame Dinner\u00a0will be held on\u00a0Thursday, March 3, 2022,\u00a0at Upstairs at the Dinosaur.\u00a0The 2022 Award Show\u00a0on\u00a0Friday, March 4, 2022, will be returning to the Palace Theatre on James. Tickets will be available for either theater seats or a live stream from The Palace Theatre on James. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Award Show will include musical performances by area artists\/bands. Awards will be presented in 12 recording categories. In addition to the People’s Choice Awards in four categories are the Brian Bourke Award for Best New Artist, the Jack O Bocchino Spirit of the SAMMYS Award, and our Community Spirit Award.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n This year,\u00a0all artist-recorded submissions will be online only.\u00a0Each artist must select one category they wish to be judged in. Only commercially-released albums or EPs, released between January 1 \u2013 December 31, 2021, by artists in the CNY area are eligible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n All entries must be available on Apple Music, Spotify, or Tidal. No physical recordings will be accepted.
