For many, The Great New York State Fair is a summer tradition. The rides, the food, the exhibits, and the music; it’s all that makes it so appealing. There is something for everyone. Day Two was a perfect example of this as you had all musical tastes covered with Celtic rock, country, rock, and rap taking the stages throughout the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For all Celtic rock fans, The Prodigals<\/a>, from New York City were what this reviewer considered the secret surprise for fairgoers on Day 2. Their mix of original Celtic music and dancing showcased all that is wonderful about this genre of music. Their flair and talent were a magnetic force for those passing by, luring them in to sit and enjoy this afternoon show at Chevy Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For fans of country music, David Nail<\/a>, “nailed it.” David and his band took the stage behind the pond at Chevy Park for the second afternoon performance. Perhaps new to some, Nail has been in and around Nashville’s music scene for years, garnering him respect for his writing and musical honesty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hair band fans got their wish with Great White<\/a>, they performed their ’80s and with new lead singer, Andrew Freeman, at Chevy Court’s 6 pm show. Fans filed in, danced, and sang along as Freeman brought a sense of kick-ass to those who have followed the band since its inception in the ’80s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final show kicked it back to the days of old-school rap as Mick Benzo’s Art of Rap took the stage. As the crowd filed into Chevy Park, DJ Kevie Kev Rockwell<\/a> busted out the tunes as the OG, Busy Bee Starski<\/a>, took the stage and got the party started. By the time Ice T<\/a> got onstage with his crew, the crowd was lit and ready to party. Was hard not to fangirl as I was standing less than a foot from one of the greatest rappers in the business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This reviewer’s takeaway from Day 2 was a message sent out by Busy Bee on the culture of hip hop. He had the crowd repeat what the basis of hip hop is all about. “Peace, Fun, Unity, and Having Fun” is what hip hop is all about; and it was all that and more on day 2 of the Great NY State <\/a>Fair<\/a>.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
